The RIAS Castor has now been tested to Australian Standards (AS 1961.8-2004), demonstrating impressive results. Testing was undertaken and documented by an independent engineering consultant, with tests designed to compare RIAS Castor with current trolley castors (no suspension) in the areas of driving performance, safety and durability. Video footage demonstrates the significant difference between the RIAS Castor and a standard castor. The footage was taken on a custom made jig during durability testing to Australian Standards. The test jig has 6mm angled obstacles for the castor to negotiate and the weight applied is 44kg per castor. The RIAS castor was tested continuously for 26 hours (388km / 758,000 obstacles) with no deterioration observed in the mechanism. Unfortunately the engineer was forced to remove the standard castor from testing after 6 minutes for fear of failure of the component and / or test jig as a result of the bounce and flutter. The RIAS Castor brochure and video are also available on the Applications page of this website. |
